Deanna's passion for her music is portrayed in her pure, yet sultry sound. The intricacies of her velvet voice shine more than ever on her new CD. “The Look of Love sends a message clearer than flowers or a box of candy or dinner and a movie. You get clarion vocals with a stellar jazz quintet that sparkles brightly through sensual ballads and upbeat rhythms.” review by Jim Santella for All About Jazz. "Reuben seems to have found her musical niche when she performs with Mellinger and McKenna, as they complement one another...and her..to create a like-minded group that makes her debut recording one that captures the spirit of her personality." review by Bill Donaldson for Jazz Improv Magazine. Her CD is getting lots of attention with radio air-play throughout the USA. Deanna has always been a versatile singer. From her warm jazzy, pop register she glides seamlessly into a shimmering soprano. "The Look of Love" is a collection of her favorite intimate romantic standards and ballads with a unique jazz flair. Deanna was born into a musical family. And from the moment she took those first piano lessons at the age of seven, music became her passion and the consistent thread in her life. Her mother named her after the famous soprano, Deanna Durbin, in hopes that one day, her little girl would grow up to be a singer. And she did! At the age of 14, all Deanna wanted to do was sing, and sing well. So the voice lessons began and she's never stopped singing. She pursued her career and earned a B.A. in Music from a small, but mighty program at Alvernia College, Reading, PA.
Her career that spans over 30 years and includes concerts, opera, Broadway, choral directing, and the teaching of voice and piano. Deanna has had leading roles in regional opera and community theater productions, and has performed as a soloist throughout the mid-Atlantic states.
While living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., she was a professional soloist and member of the prestigious Washington Singers and the former internationally acclaimed Paul Hill Chorale. She performed in concerts featuring prominent artists such as Marvin Hamlish, Yo Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, and appearing at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Carnegie Hall, and the Mann Center. Deanna can be heard in various venues in Eastern Pennsylvania and has been featured in the Berks Jazz Fest, the 3rd largest jazz fest in the nation. Deanna's love for acoustical jazz, standards and romantic ballads has led her to produce her first CD.
